THE INGLES have pulled Sheffield champion Kid Galahad out of the running for an English title.

The Wincobank team withdraw him from Thursday’s scheduled purse bid to pit Galahad (aka Barry Awad) against James Dickens for the super-bantamweight belt.

Handler John Ingle told The Star: “Barry has to defend his WBC International title (possibly March 23) and that would have conflicted with the English title.”

The Ingles also hope to manoeuvre Galahad into a shot at the European title soon. He is currently second in the rankings.

Galahad’s intended English opponent was unhappy with the pull-out.

Dickens said: “I can’t understand why he doesn’t want the fight. We’re both in a good position to give the public something to see. I’m sure he has his reasons because he’s a good fighter and I respect him. I don’t think it’s because he’s scared, I just think he must want it further down the line instead.”
