Sheffield Lane Top prospect Uzair Najib has penned a deal with Dennis Hobson’s professional boxing promotion outfit.

Najib, who is aged 22 and from Park Hill, will campaign at super-bantamweight and debut on Hobson’s next show at Ponds Forge on November 29 alongside Jamie Sampson, Sam Matkin and Hassan Ahmed.

Najib, who was a champion amateur, works for a local taxi firm. He will continue to be trained by Keith Palmer (also pictured).

It is a refreshing piece of grassroots business for Hobson, who has found himself entwined in a contractual wrangle with deposed world champion Jamie McDonnell.
