Nobody likes doing the same thing over and over again..unless you are Sam Sheedy, ofcourse.
He is revelling in the daily recurrence of a gruelling training programme which he says will ultimately deliver him the British middleweight title.
Sheedy, 28, is going through a carefully-scripted series of repeated training tasks as he moves towards his November 26 showdown with Tommy Langford.
And the southpaw is loving every minute of it.
“People always say their preparation has gone well but mine has been fantastic. We have been training boxing specific rather than previous routines we’ve done. I am super-fit now and will be even fitter by the fight” said the Sheffield Boxing Centre mainstay.
“Preparation is never catered around my opponent, I’m not bothered who they are, the focus is purely on getting the best version of me possible because my best will be good enough to win.
“Training has all been about structure and routine, lots of repetition so things will be second nature when I need it. I can feel the increase in fitness. I am going to be better all round” said Sheedy who locks horn with his Midlands-based foe in Cardiff.
“I have been sparring big, strong kids. Scott Westgarth is strong and raw, Carl Wild is a handful and Matthew Eaton is a not even a professional boxer but he is a nightmare to be in the ring with. They have all helped me. I have been going ten rounds, with different partners, one rests for a round and then comes in fresh as a daisy.
“There has been no need to go outside the gym for sparring. It has been good to keep everything in house, in the SBC family unit.
“I don’t actually need hard sparring, I had a hard fight with Andrew Robinson (July 30) and that showed everybody I can take a shot and have a good chin.
“There is no point me sparring, say, with Billy Joe Saunders, if I got the better of him or he got the better of me, what use would that be against Tommy Langford?”
