Rotherham boxer Nav Mansouri has been forced to withdraw from his scheduled British title shot due to a back injury.

English champion Mansouri was due to fight current British light welterweight king Liam Smith on the undercard of the heavyweight clash between controversial duo Tyson Fury and Dereck Chisora in Manchester next month.

But the 25-year-old – whose only loss in his 16 fight career came in Prizefighter – has been forced out with a back injury.

Mansouri tweeted: “Words cannot describe how gutted I am not being able to fight for the British Title due to my back injury. All the best to @LiamBeefySmith.”

Efforts are being made to find Smith a replacement challenger. Smith tweeted to Mansouri: “chin up mate, you will get your chance down the line.”

Mansouri spent part of his training camp for the bout at the famous Wildcard gym in Los Angeles, the base of renowned trainer Freddie Roach.
