The Manor, Sheffield light heavyweight has told his manager to nail down a fight with a Russian opponent who is tipped to become a star.

The rival has an unbeaten record and a high ranking.

Cameron has had a tough time of it lately - his jaw was smashed by a Bradley Rea in a fourth-round stoppage defeat in Manchester in May.

He says he has left promoter Frank Warren's Queensberry organisation.

But he told The Star: "I have been offered an opponent who is ranked in the world's top five and I have said yes to my manager, Lee Eaton. We'll see if it materialises.

"But you know me - I will take on anybody if the money is right."

The 36-year-old has been thinking about retiring next year and says he dreads old age, because of "aches and pains" in his jaw, knees and knuckles.

But he has kept in shape at Manor Boxing Academy in Handsworth and is ready to roll the dice at least once more.

"It is a brutal, cut-throat sport to be in and if it wasn't for my sponsor Mark Turkington (TES Engineering) I'd have been in big trouble," he says.

"But I think I have got one more year left in me before retiring and I want to retire after a big win" added Cameron, whose professional record stands at 24-8-1.

"I think I am still at a good level."

Liam will be anxious to avoid being caught with the type of shot Rae threw that ended his evening, at the Co-op Live Arena.

"He got me with a beauty - it would have knocked a horse out.

"But I am still training hard, ready for the next fight.

"I now have a manager's license and have taken on my first boxer, Ibraheem Nasser, and I really enjoy doing kids' classes."
