Kell Brook: Canadian rival awaits confirmation his fight is still on

Have your say

Kell Brook appears to be training hard for his planned fight with Brandon Cook although rumours persist of an ankle injury.

Promoter Eddie Hearn reportedly said the Sheffielder would be checked by doctors ahead of the 02 Arena contest on July 28.

A picture was tweeted of Brook after a gym session - but his profile has been a low one, recently, to say the least.

There have been unconfirmed suggestions he hurt himself in a tumble from his moto-cross bike.

Neither Brook nor his trainer Dom Ingle have been unavailable for comment.

His opponent Cook said: “I heard he was hurt last Thursday but nothing was said after that.

“He has since posted pics where he was about to spar and stuff so I’m sure he is good” he told World Boxing News.

“I’m praying he is okay to fight. I have a bunch of people that bought flights to come already so it would really suck for everyone if that happened.

“I wouldn’t be too happy if they pull out this close.

“I’m waiting to find that out, but Eddie Hearn is one of the best promoters out there so hopefully he can do something for me if the worst happens,” he said.
