It’s knockout time, says Sheffield’s Kell Brook

Have your say

KELL Brook knows he has to put on a show and knock out his American opponent if he is to become a true international superstar.

But the Sheffield boxer says he will thrive on the pressure of a big fight night against Carson Jones in an IBF world welterweight title eliminator on Saturday at the Arena.

“There’s always been pressure on me. Since I put the gloves on people have been watching” said Brook.

“I got rid of a lot of nerves after fighting in front of such a massive crowd against Matthew Hatton. I used the pressure to my advantage. I coasted through that fight.

“This time I want to move through the gears and really hurt him. It’s such a high-class division that you have to do something special to get noticed. I know that I have to get rid of this guy in style.”

Brook and Jones come face to- ace today at a press conference at Napoleon’s Casino, Owlerton. Sparks flew at the first press conference and pride is at the top of the agenda for Brook, with fans invited to watch as the brash Oklahoma fighter and Brook speak to the press.

“He’s rubbed me up the wrong way but words outside the ring won’t play a part,” said Brook.
