Galahad lines up clash with Josh Warrington after dominant win

Galahad took apart the game Claudio Marrero in eight rounds of their final eliminator for Warrington's IBF crown.

How keen the Leeds man will be to stand across the ring from Galahad again will be another matter.

The scare he gave Warrington last year - when he could easily have taken the points decision - meant he was always going to have to earn another opportunity the hard way.

But once he settled into his clash with Marrero, he made it look pretty easy and ultimately forced the Dominican to retire ahead of the ninth round.

Galahad applied some good pressure in the opening round in an archetypal performance from the Ingle fighter.

He made it difficult for Marrero to land and popped off the jab well in a controlling opening round.

But Marrero was never likely to sit back and allow Galahad to simply dictate things.

He unleashed a barrage of shots in the second round - big swinging hooks that unsettled Galahad momentarily.

Galahad soon stepped back into his rhythm and was able to dodge shots well.

But the right hook from southpaw Marrero was a potent weapon and he caught Galahad flush with it on a couple of occasions.

Galahad showed really good accuracy down the middle, either to the head or body, and followed up well when he did find success.

A show of disrespect from Marrero early in the fifth round saw Galahad truly switch on.

The Dominican fighter appeared happy to take shots from Galahad but soon regretted it.

The accuracy from the Wincobank fighter only increased and Marrero all of a sudden looked subdued through a dominant round.

It then became a Galahad fight. Jabs and straight rights found their target time and again.

He turned the screw in the seventh, with an accumulation of shots stunning Marrero who, however, finished the round by pinning Galahad in the corner and producing a defiant barrage of shots.

But Galahad peppered Marrero with shots throughout the eighth and there was no surprise when the Dominican's corner retired him between rounds.
