Jamie McDonnell has had all the celebrations, holidays and good times - now he’s desperate to get back to the grind.

Victory over Julio Ceja brought an IBF world title to South Yorkshire on May 11.

It was a heady night at Doncaster’s Keepmoat stadium...but that’s all in the past now, he says. “I have been out for four months and I’ve been doing nowt,” admitted the Hatfield-born 27-year-old champion. “I have just been waiting for a date and an opponent. Dennis (Hobson, promoter) hasn’t lined one up yet. There have been a few names mentioned but nothing definite.

“But I am hoping to be back in action for a voluntary defence on October 19 and then another fight in December. I want two fights before the end of the year.”

Sheffield Ingle fighter Muheeb Fazeldin, a southpaw bantamweight, is on the Kid Galahad vs Jazza Dickens undercard on Saturday.

He fights Leo D’Erlanger at the Magna Centre, Rotherham - the same Banbury fighter he drew with in Kent, in June.“I’m buzzing, it’s a good show to be on, it will be a good atmosphere” Muheeb said. “This time in the rematch it’s going to be a win for me, guaranteed. I didn’t feel myself last time but I’m a different animal this time – my speed, accuracy and power will be too much.”
