What have you been doing today?

I have been to meet the owners of a new gym called “Fit4It” who are going to help me get ready for my next fight.

Who is your inspiration and why?

Haters! I look at people like this and say to myself: ‘I’m going to prove you wrong’, and I usually do!

Which sports star did you admire when you were growing up?

Muhammad Ali.

My dad had videos of him that we used to watch.

We watched them so much that parts of them wore out!

What’s your favourite other sport?

I do like a game of golf with the lads. I’m not very good but we have a good laugh.

Who is the most famous person in your phone?

I do have a few well known boxing people on my phone but its got to be Sheffield Boxing Centre’s Glyn Rhodes MBE.

Not many people get an MBE, so well done Glyn.

When was the last time you cried?

When I won the title I was a bit emotional.

But before that it was when my Grandma died suddenly last year.

It was very sad, she was a great woman.

Who or what are you most proud of?

My two children Zach and Freya. I am very proud of them.

Oh yes - and don’t forget the WBO International Title - great for me and everyone involved.

What’s the best piece of advice you have received?

To always be honest.

If your doing something you have to lie about you shouldn’t be doing it.

What one item do you take with you wherever you go?

Like most people nowadays “Mi keys and mi phone” Ever heard that song?

What is the most nervous you’ve ever been?

I don’t really suffer with nerves although I did a little bit before the title fight because it was a massive show.

Do you ever doubt yourself?

Always, but that is what spurs you on.

When you start thinking I’m the best, I’m the fittest, I’m the strongest, you will get beat.

What is your view on social networks like twitter and Facebook?

I like Facebook but I have just joined twitter and don’t really understand it yet.

How do you relax away from sport?

Just spend time with my fiancee Katie and my children. Although time with the kids is not always relaxing.

Where was your last holiday - and would you go again?

I’m not really a big fan of holidays.

But we did go caravanning in Mablethorpe last year which was ok.

Do you cook? If so what’s your favourite - if not who provides that favourite meal?

Me and Katie share the cooking,

I really enjoy Sunday dinner.

But out of training l love a good Kebab.

What was the last book you read?

I read, “Who’s There Spot” to Freya and “Ben 10 Ultimate Alien” to Zach.

Other than that I can’t remember the last book I read.

If you weren’t doing what you do, what would you do?

Outside boxing I am a joiner.

But this year I should be able to be a full time boxer.

Tell our readers in your own words why you think we’re interested enough to interview you?

In December I won the WBO International Title. I was born and raised in Rotherham, and I am a genuinely nice guy.
