UNDEFEATED Sheffield welterweight Kell Brook has promised to “finish off” Amir Khan’s career after their planned showdown moved a step closer yesterday.

Eddie Hearn, Brook’s promoter, has confirmed negotiations have begun with Khan’s camp over a blockbuster British bout between the two boxers next summer.

Speaking at a public workout and autograph session at Meadowhall, Brook said: “Amir Khan has been knocked out at lightweight and light-welterweight, and I’ll finish him off at welterweight.”

Brook faces Hector Saldivia in a final eliminator for the IBF welterweight title next Saturday and Hearn claims it is ‘inevitable’ he will lock horns with Khan in 2013.

“I think this fight is inevitable; it’s too big to be ignored and it’s only a matter of time before the public virtually insist on Brook vs Khan happening,” he said.
