Sheffield Sharks eased to head coach Atiba Lyons’ 250th win in charge with a comfortable 83-52 success over Yorkshire rivals Leeds Force.

The Sharks led from start to finish and clinched the Yorkshire derby series with their second league win over Leeds during the 2017/18 season.

Sheffield bounced back from home defeats to Worcester Wolves and Bristol Flyers in style, with Zach Gachette scoring team-high 20 points off the bench and Dirk Williams and Rob Marsden also in double figures with the hosts able to spread minutes across their roster.

Sheffield dominated throughout, and poured in 27 points during the opening period to assert their control.

There was no way back for Force, despite 22 points and 10 rebounds from Mo Williams.

Leeds had 26 turnovers which were converted into 36 Sharks points as the home side capitalised on their opponents’ mistakes.

Leading scorers – Gachette 20, Williams 17, Marsden 12 (Sharks) – Williams 22, Sinani 14, De Sousa 7 (Force)

Next up for Sheffield is a road trip to second-placed ESH Group Eagles Newcastle on Friday, tip-off 7.30pm.
