DBL Sharks Sheffield have secured the signing of power forward Leslee Smith.
The 6ft8 British Virgin Islands native lands at the EIS after a brief spell in Germany following time with the Bristol Flyers.
Smith has spent time at his home in Texas to prepare himself for life as a Shark and is eager to get started.
“I wasn’t quite ready for the season for a number of person reasons, however since I have been home I have focused on my fitness and getting in good shape for the season ahead,” Smith said. “I’m looking forward to getting to Sheffield and getting started.
“I’m sure we can turn the season around. There are a lot of great players on board.”
Sharks coach Atiba Lyons believes Smith can fit into the big shoes of fan favourite Tony Wroblicky.
He said: “We were looking for a big man position since the departure of Tony and over the summer we struggled to see the right fit.
“Fortunately Leslee became available and we were happy to get it done.”
Smith graduated from NCAA D1 Nebraska University with a five points per game average which became 15 points and 15 rebounds from his last season in the BBL.
