The first of Sheffield Sharks new signings has been agreed in the shape of 6ft 9 forward Shaheed Davis.
Davis, who graduated from the University of Central Florida, is the first of the new additions the DBL Sharks will make this season adding to power house Mike Tuck and TJ Robinson.
Highly regarded for his athletic ability and versatility on the floor, Shaheed’s presence at the Sharks will add strength to the core of last seasons’ Play-off winning outfit and coach Lyons is thrilled to have secured his services.
“I’m very excited to have a player of his size and skill set on my team, I cannot think of a better option. He can play multiple positions if required and just brings a different angle to the team,” said Lyons.”
Davis, who was discovereed by the British Basketball Combine which was hosted by Lyons in Englewood, Florida, said:“I am very excited to start my career in Sheffield. After meeting coach Lyons and playing for him at his combine I understand what he wants from me and the winning traditions of the Sheffield Sharks.
“It helps to have had a try out experience like the combine with international coaches present to give you a real context of what’s expected.
“I am hopeful I can make a good contribution”.
With the BBL fixtures now out in the open, it looks like a bumper start to the year with the opening game against Play Off rivals Leicester Riders on Friday September 23.
