Sheffield Sharks hope to go one-ahead in the series against Cheshire Phoenix on Sunday.
Having already played each other twice this season, the teams go into the game with a home win each. Sharks will be keen to overcome Nix’s home advantage and coach Atiba Lyons wants to see Sharks display the energy and fight they showed in their overtime loss to Glasgow last Friday. The game went to overtime after the score being 75:75 after regulation play, and finished with Rocks just edging out Sharks, who will be buoyed by recent performances by Jerrold Brooks and TJ Robinson who have put up 19 and 18 pts respectively.
Last time the two sides met Brooks and Robinson scored 25 and 28 points each to lead Sharks to victory, and coach Lyons is looking for a repeat performance this weekend.
Phoenix are on a two game loss streak and sit just four points above Sharks in fifth place after two close games against second place Leicester Riders and Plymouth Raiders.
They will be looking to play-maker Akeem Ellis and point scorer Jordan Williams to apply the pressure to Sharks, with Williams posting an impressive 28 points and seven rebounds in Nix’s 80-86 loss to Raiders and will be on Sharks coach Lyons’s radar as a man to keep quiet.
Ellis was Cheshire’s key man when they last faced Sharks, putting up 23 points, five rebounds and four assists, and fans can expect to see another excellent centre court battle between Ellis and Brooks which could decide the match.
Tip off is at 5:30pm.
