Sheffield Sharks look to bounce back from defeat on Friday night as they embark on a BBL Cup round of 16 clash against Manchester Giants.
Sharks want a victory following their narrow loss two weeks ago to the Cheshire Phoenix, however they face stiff competition in Giants who sit three places above the Sharks in the BBL Championship with a 2-3 record.
Sharks, currently joint bottom of the table, are yet to find a win this season, but have defeated the Giants in their previous three head to head meetings.
Despite defeat to Cheshire Phoenix last Friday the Sharks were able to draw a number of positives from the performance.
New Point Guard Jerrold Brooks put in a stellar performance scoring 30 points, and has made his name in the BBL as one of the men to watch.
Guard Colin Sing provided a level of effort and enthusiasm that was clear for all to see, posting eight points and seven rebounds to keep his side in the contest. Captain Mike Tuck added 16 points and nine boards in a typical workmanlike performance to round out an unlucky night for the plucky Sharks.
Yorick Williams’ Giants got off to a sizzling start in the BBL, however they are coming off of a three game loss streak and will be looking to put that to an end at the EIS tomorrow night. Resident Mancunian Williams will be looking for his team to continue playing in their trademark physical style and look to talisman Point Guard Callum Jones to pull the strings against Sharks.
Atiba Lyons’ men will aim to get off to a quick start against Giants, after a two week break from play whereas their opponents are already five games into their BBL season.
However after the Giants game, Sharks will be in quick fire action with four games in nine days over the Halloween period, where Lyons will be hoping to really kick-start the season.
