SHEFFIELD Sharks coach Atiba Lyons thinks he is just one player away from having all the talent he needs this season.
Lyons confirmed yesterday that 33-year-old Chesterfield-born former Newcastle Eagles skipper Andrew Bridge has signed with the club ahead of tomorrow night’s BBL Championship opener against Leicester Riders at the EIS.
Lyons said: “Andrew gives us great leadership and experience out on the court.
“He brings a lot of the intangibles to the court. That’s something we need with me concentrating on playing this season.
“We’ve got a good core with Andrew, Mike Tuck and Olu Babalola. I’m just looking for one more piece now.”
With Lyons allowing Nashid Beard to leave the club after being “not quite what I was looking for” it is thought the coach wants another big man to support the work of Tuck and Babalola.
“We’re coming together well,” he said. “Things are getting better all the time this week.”
