Sheffield Sharks march on the BBL runner-up spot continued with an 86-69 win over playoff-seeking Manchester Giants.
An outstanding start gave the Sharks a 22-14 first quarter lead.
They continued to show aggression throughout the second quarter to put together a 17-4 run, typified by a Colin Sing dunked ‘and one’ play.
Manchester rallied to the end of the first half on the back of a James Jones triple but the Sharks were in command at 46-31.
Old rivals the Giants fought back in the third period. The Jones brothers, James and Callum both produced hot spells, combining for 14 points. Three point plays from David Aliu and David Watts narrowed the deficit as the quarter closed at 60-54.
Sharks skipper Mike Tuck ensured that it was the home side who ended the better. Manchester came to within 3 at 62-59 but the big Canadian saw his side home to the win with a 23 point, 10 rebound double-double and the MVP award. The Sharks travel to Plymouth in their final game and must at least match the result of their nearest rivals Worcester Wolves to secure a second place finish.
