The battle for a place in the BBL Championship play-offs continues at the EIS tonight with Sheffield Sharks hosting one of the teams trying desperately to make the post-season, the Cheshire Jets.

The Sharks are sixth in the table with an 11-14 record and just five matches to play, while Jets are still chasing the eighth and final are currently 10th with seven wins from 23 games. It will be the fourth meeting of the season between the sides, and although Sharks have won all three of those games, they have all been close match-ups.

Sharks edged home 66-62 in September’s BBL Trophy match-up and it was even closer two days later as Sheffield won 86-84 at the Northgate Arena in the same competition. The league meeting between the teams also went Sharks’ way as they ran out 90-77 winners at the EIS in early January. Sharks welcomed back player-coach Atiba Lyons last weekend into their line-up but it couldn’t prevent them from losing against Mersey Tigers and Worcester Wolves.

If Sharks beat the Jets it will almost certainly ensure they reach the play-offs where he first two rounds offs are two-legged affairs.
