GREAT Britain’s poor run in the basketball continued last night, but it was so close.
Former Sharks coach Chris Finch has now seen his team lose their first three matches. This time it was a dramatic 79-78 loss against Spain, who are heavily fancied to meet America in the final.
NBA star Luol Deng hit a three-point shot with eight seconds to play to make it a one point game.
Sharks guard Nate Reinking scored five points including a late three-pointer but Team GB again let the opportunity to claim a big scalp go.
Finch will lead his players into action again tomorrow against Australia. Britain must beat them and China in their final match on Monday to progress to the knock-out stages.
Former Rotherham Metro star Adam Scholefield was part of a good British effort against the USA in the Water Polo Arena.
Trailing 5-0 after the first quarter, Team GB fought back to only lose 13-7.
