SHEFFIELD Sharks player-coach Atiba Lyons is backing new signing Robert ‘BJ’ Jenkins to make a major impact in the 2011/12 season.
Lyons admits he was keen to get the 6ft 1in American on board from Murray State University folllowing a series of impressive performances from the guard over the summer in his home town of New York.
Regarded as a strong leader, Jenkins averaged 38 per cent from the three point line.
Lyons said: “When I saw BJ play I thought he was a standout player in the team.
“I think he will do very well in the BBL and with the rest of the team will develop his leadership skills and help us improve on our success.”
Jenkins helped Murray to to two conference championships and a trip to NCAA and NIT finals.
Sharks are set to unveil more new arrivals next week.
