Lyons predicts a tough test

Have your say

SHEFFIELD Sharks coach Atiba Lyons says Friday’s opponents Durham Wildcats will pose a good test of his team at the EIS.

Sharks have started the season with four straight defeats in the BBL Championship but did pick up their first win of the campaign on Friday night in the BBL Cup against Cheshire Jets.

Last year, the Wildcats were out-classed in their first season in the top flight, but they’re already looking stronger and Lyons suggests his team will have to up their game to secure a much-needed victory.

He said: “Durham will be a good test for us. They play smart basketball and a different type of defence.

“We’ll have the scouting report to see what they’re like.

“It’d be good to win a close game just to get that confidence in closing a game out.”

Sheffield’s emphatic victory over the Jets was enough to earn two of their players - American Gage Daye and Candadian Mike Tuck a spot on the bench for the BBL’s team of the week.

Sharks BBL Cup quarter-final tie with Glasgow Rocks is likely to take place on Friday, November 2 at the EIS.
