Paul Williams says the league championship is in his team’s reach as the Sharks prepare for another tough weekend.
After splitting last week’s matches with a win at Newcastle Eagles and a defeat at Worcester Wolves, Sheffield will welcome title rivals Glasgow Rocks to the EIS tomorrow before travelling to fourth placed Cheshire Jets on Sunday.
Williams, who stands 6’10” tall, says that with the league campaign approaching a decisive time it is often difficult not to look too far ahead: “As a player you want to take it one game at a time, but as a human you do look ahead to see what you can accomplish. Atiba tells us that it’s all within our reach. “It is important we don’t get too far ahead of ourselves because we have so many games to play. We play three a week so it’s a lot to take in.”
Sharks still have 15 league matches to play before the play-offs. For now Williams’s focus is on in-form Glasgow Rocks, who have upgraded their roster.
“They’re a different team” said Williams. “We’re not thinking it will be easy. Every time we’ve played them it’s been very close.”
