Danum Eagles recaptured their promotion-winning form to secure a first win in Division Two at the fourth time of asking against Newham Neptunes.
Eagles have taken the National League by storm since they entered the men’s league two years ago.
But following back-to-back promotions their momentum had stalled with three straight defeats at the start of the new campaign.
However, the Eagles of the past two seasons emerged on Saturday when they came from nine points down early in the fourth quarter to win 87-83 thanks to their pressing defence and some excellent outside shooting.
Youngster Liam Knapp produced one of his best performances yet for the senior team and finished with 26 points to his name.
Paul Walsh (23) and Mathew Martin (19) also made vital contributions at the The Pods in Scunthorpe.
Head coach Bob Martin said; “This was a team effort. Every single Eagles player played their part and it was a great win.”
A fantastic weekend for the Doncaster club also saw the under 18s win 95-67 against Durham Wildcats, with the exceptional Arjun Sangeria netting no fewer than 41 points.
The under 16s also eased to a 102-48 victory against East Durham.
