Sharks captain Mike Tuck is warning his team not to read too much into Glasgow Rocks’ league position when the two teams meet tonight at the EIS (7.30pm).
Sheffield enter this weekend’s round of BBL Championship matches top of the table with the league’s best record at 11-2 while Rocks sit seventh at 6-7 - but Tuck isn’t about to be fooled by that.
He said: “Glasgow are a team that are probably a lot better than their record shows right now.
“Sterling (Rocks coach Sterling Davis) always seems to put together a tough, hard-working squad. EJ Harrison and Gareth Murray will be guys we have to watch out for. They are veterans that know the game and can shoot so we’ll have to limit their shots. We’ll also have to keep Daniel Northern off the boards.”
Meanwhile Tuck will be joined by three of his Sharks teammates in the England squad for next month’s international match against Ireland.
Tuck, Zach Gachette, Colin Sing and Nick Lewis have all be named in the 16 man squad, along with Doncaster’s Rob Marsden, for the game at the NIA in Birmingham on Sunday, January 12.
