Sheffield Sharks coach Atiba Lyons thinks the BBL won’t take shape until early in 2015 as he prepares his team for Friday night’s match against Manchester Giants at the EIS (7.30pm).

The league has already thrown up a few surprise results – including Sharks 76-72 loss at the Giants late last month.

Lyons said: “It will be tight until Christmas and the New Year and then teams will start to pull away as injuries start to hit and players hit their stride.

“Anyone can beat anyone right now as we’ve seen.

“I try not to get too affected by defeats at this stage because a lot can change.

“We’re playing hard and together so that’s the main thing.”

Sheffield will be keen to gain quick revenge on Manchester, though, particularly after their second away defeat of the season at Newcastle Eagles last Friday.

Lyons said: “At home I don’t ‘expect’ to beat everyone because that suggests you can just turn up and win.

“We need to play the right way and do the right things to get the victory.”

Sharks have won both their home games so far against Durham and Plymouth.
