Win or lose the league is the simple equation facing the Sharks tonight at Newcastle Eagles.
Sheffield are the last realistic obstacle to the Eagles winning the BBL Championship with the north-east club eight points clear and having just the bottom two to play after taking on the Sharks.
However, if the Sharks win their remaining seven games it will be Atiba Lyons’ side who will be crowned champions.
It’s a tough task for Sheffield as they have the other two sides in top four to play as well as difficult road trips to Glasgow Rocks and Plymouth Raiders.
Victory tonight would set up Sunday’s home clash with last season’s champions Leicester Riders in the EIS’ Blue Hall (4pm).
Sheffield captain Mike Tuck said: “Everyone on the team knows how important this weekend is for us, so they will all be fired up and ready to play.
“These will be tough games against solid teams so staying focused and coming into the games prepared will be key.”
Sharks have won their last seven league matches since losing 69-59 at Newcastle on February 7. Since then they have beaten the Eagles 94-92 at the EIS on February 25.
