SILENCE will be golden tonight in Newcastle for Sheffield Sharks, according to coach Atiba Lyons

The Sharks take on Newcastle Eagles in the first leg of their BBL play-offs quarter-final tie with the second leg is in Sheffield at the EIS on Monday evening.

While Sharks finished the BBL regular season in seventh position compared to the Eagles’ second there’s not much to choose between the teams from recent results.

Sharks aim is to escape from the north-east with a scoreline that makes them favourites to win through in Monday’s sold out second leg.

Lyons said: “Our main challenge is to keep Newcastle quiet in the first quarter.

“They always come out with a lot of energy up there and shoot the ball very well on their home court.

“The atmosphere in Newcastle is always good and I’m sure it’ll be the same back in Sheffield on Monday.”

Sharks go into the play-offs in excellent form having won eight of their last nine matches including one win and defeat against the Eagles.
