Sharks finished the regular season as runners-up in the BBL Championship after victory at Plymouth Raiders on Sunday.
Sheffield had BJ Holmes and Mike Tuck to thank for the win with both scoring a game-high 24 points.
Sharks never trailed in the first quarter as they broke away from 4-4 to finish the quarter 26-10 in front. But it was all Raiders in the second quarter with the hosts gradually eating into Sheffield’s lead to trail 35-31 at half time.
Runs of 9-0 and 16-5 by Sharks gave them a 65-52 lead with the final quarter to play and a three from Holmes and an ‘and-one’ by Tuck early in the fourth quarter settled any nerves.
Sharks will now play Manchester Giants in the BBL Championship play-offs over two legs.
The Giants beat London to qualify for the post-season. Durham Wildcats claimed the final play-off berth with victory over Cheshire Phoenix.
