There was disappointment for Sheffield Hatters under 16s and Sheffield Junior Saints under 14s at the National League play-off finals yesterday.

Both had done well to reach the finals weekend at the English Institute of Sport in Attercliffe but neither could get past tough semi-final matches.

The Hatters went down 79-74 against Manchester Mystics before winning the third/fourth place game 79-35 against Nottingham Wildcats. The Mystics were defeated 98-62 in the final by Haringey Angels.

The Saints lost 89-72 in their semi-final against eventual champions Cheshire Jets.

The Jets beat Lewisham Thunder 59-57 in the final while the Saints were soundly defeated 94-49 Peckham Pride for third.

Manchester Magic won the men’s under 18 final 74-67 over Barking & Dagenham Thunder.
