Sharks guard Nick Lewis will miss the club’s next match against Durham on October 25 after receiving a one-game suspension for his ejection at Birmingham Knights on Saturday.

Lewis was involved in a fracas with Knights player Martyn Gayle. Sharks went on to win 102-95 to remain joint top of the British Basketball League with Newcastle Eagles and the unbeaten Worcester Wolves.

Coach Atiba Lyons put Lewis’ indiscretion down to a “bit of immaturity” but had no complaints with the decision made by the match referees.

American BJ Holmes is expected to arrive in Sheffield on Thursday after his work visa arrived.

Meanwhile Junior Sharks under 18s won the local derby against Sheffield Saints at the English Institute of Sport on Sunday. Sharks came out on top 61-55.
