CITY of Sheffield are at Liverpool tomorrow for the final match in the British League (Premier Division). Seventh of the eight teams after three matches, they need to beat Liverpool to avoid relegation.
They have selected a team capable of doing it in Merseyside. Sheffield’s strongest event is the javelin. Lee Doran, who narrowly missed Olympic selection, has had injury problems but is expected to throw whilst Joe Dunderdale is the B string competitor. Doran and Dunderdale rank second and third in the UK this year.
Tim Burn, who has had a good season, does the 400 metres for Sheffield with Luke Edwards a strong back up in the B race. Sam Ellis should do well in the 800 metres.
In the field events Sheffield have Luke Cutts in the long jump as well as his specialist event, the pole vault, whilst Jamie Williamson, in fine form recently in both shot and discus, is in both events.
