HALLAMSHIRE duo Hatti Dean and Lizzie Adams will be challenging for honours at the National Cross Country Championships in London.
Dean was runner up last year, third the year before and gold medallist in 2009 on the Parliament Hill course.
She will be hard to beat tomorrow. On her return from her third trip of the winter to Kenya, Dean demonstrated her form with a comfortable win in a race in Belgium a fortnight ago. With no World Cross Country Championships this year and with her forthcoming marriage to Hallamshire’s Dave Archer forcing her to miss the Inter Counties, this will be Dean’s last cross country before preparation for the track season.
Adams has been in superb form and an outstanding run in the Northern marked her out as a possible medallist at National level. With Dean and Adams leading the way, Hallam will look for medals in the team race. Last year they missed out, finishing fourth.
Nicola Squires, who will run for Yorkshire in the Inter Counties, is in good form and should be the third counter for Hallamshire with back up expected to come from Claire Robson and Chaanah Patton. Jade Allen (Rotherham) should be well placed.
