City of Sheffield star Mukhtar Mohammed had a good run in the 800 metres at the Birmingham Grand Prix meeting at Birmingham yesterday.
Finishing strongly, Mohammed was fourth in a high class field and was the first British athlete. His time was 1:46.66, not far outside his personal best. Mohammed now goes to the Czech Republic for the European Under 23 Championships.
Britain’s Dai Greene produced another impressive performance in the 400m hurdles.
The European and Commonwealth champion held off former world champion Bershawn Jackson on the line to win in 48.20s, his second Diamond League victory in quick succession.
At Solihull on Saturday Steve Evison (City of Sheffield) was runner up in a British Milers Club 800 metres in a time of 1:50.71.
David Thompson (Barnsley AC) was runner up in the Eccup 10 mile road race in Leeds yesterday in a time of 56:22.
