The South Yorkshire Schools Cross Country Championships take place at Graves Park, Sheffield tomorrow.
As well as county titles, places are at stake for the South Yorkshire teams to compete in the English Schools Cross County next month.
The in-form Connor Milnes heads the senior boys field along with his Sheffield team mates Jonathon Shields and Josh Naisbitt whilst Sheffield’s Eleanor Curran leads the challenge in the senior girls race.
At the intermediate level Sheffield pair Cameron Bell and Alfie Manthorpe, along with Rotherham’s Joe Massingham should be prominent on the day.
In the intermediate girls race Alice Moore (Barnsley) should be well placed along with Sheffield trio Mary McCarthy, Amelia Lancaster and Emily Simpson.
The junior boys field is headed by Sheffield’s David Byrne whilst a competitive junior girls race features Rotherham’s Mya Taylor and Grace Harris and Sheffield pair Ellen McHale and Elizabeth Wilkinson.
The first six in each race are guaranteed selection for South Yorkshire with two additional places at the discretion of the selectors.
The first race is at 10:15.
n The Wombwell five mile road race is scheduled to take place a week on Sunday.
And the England Athletics U/20, U/17 & U/15 Indoor Championships is to be staged at the EIS Sheffield on March 1.
On March 14 the same venue hosts the England U17/U15 Indoor Combined Events Championships.
