City of Sheffield’s Kristie Edwards struck double gold for the fourth successive year at the Yorkshire County Championships at Cudworth.
The pint-sized 16-year-old from Wickersley won the 100m and 200m races in faster times than the winners of the senior races. Despite a headwind she set a new championship record of 12.01 secs for the 100 on the first day. Runners faced a stiffer breeze on the second day at the Dorothy Hyman Stadium, but Kristie landed the 200 in an impressive 25.01 secs. Now Kristie, under the watchful eye of coach Leung Man, is aiming to seal a regular place in the England and GB youth team. Her next main events are the Northern Championships, UK Championships and the English Schools.
