SHEFIELD Flames compete at Lea Valley, London, today in the second leg of the McCain Indoor City Challenge.

They won the first match on their home track from North London Lions.

It could be a close run thing for the title, decided on total points from both matches, which North London wrested from Sheffield last year after the Flames had dominated the event since its inception.

In the first match, Sheffield were boosted by the appearance of heptathlon world champion Jessica Ennis. She misses the event this time as she will be putting the finishing touches to her preparations for next weekend’s Indoor Championships in Istanbul.

Nevertheless, it is a strong Sheffield team. Commonwealth champion Louise Hazel does the 60 metres hurdles for the Flames, who also have in-form Louise Bloor in the 60 metres. Bloor will run the 200 as well as the 60 metres
