Ennis focused on Olympic tilt

JESSICA Ennis says she won’t be distracted by outside interests in her pursuit of a gold medal at next summer’s Olympic Games in London.

As the poster girl for British athletics, Ennis, aged 25, already has a portfolio of high profile sponsors but insists training comes first as she gets stuck into her tough winter training schedule.

She said: “I know Toni (coach Toni Minichiello) doesn’t want me doing too much around the indoor season, so I’ll do as much as I can in my time off after championships and on my rest days so I don’t really miss training.

“Lots of opportunities come up but I turn a lot down because if it’s on a day when I’m training and there’s already a commitment on my rest day then my week is full.

“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to have a home Olympics and I don’t want anything to mess it up. There’s plenty of time after. I want to give myself the best opportunity.”
