City look to better fifth position

Have your say

City of Sheffield begin their British League (Premiership) campaign today with a trip to Birmingham.

Sheffield finished fifth last year, with Sale Harriers, Manchester, retaining their title.

Ricky Reeves and Todd Marshall form a powerful sprint team for Sheffield who are hoping that Olympic hopeful Richard Buck will do the 400 metres along with Luke Edwards who won the B race at last week’s English championships.

Rhian Hastey and Steve Evison should do well in the 800 and 1500 respectively whilst Yorkshire steeplechase champion Howard Wood is another strong contender in his event.

Matt Hudson will be hard to beat in the 110 metres hurdles

Sheffield look strong in the throws, as Lee Doran won the Welsh javelin title last weekend with a throw of 77.99, his second best ever, and he is partnered by Joe Dunderdale.

Meanwhile, Mukhter Mohammed and Hatti Archer (formerly Dean), are in action at the British Milers Club meeting at Watford today.
