City of Sheffield duo Katie Sockett and Rosie Marino should be front-runners in the Northern Championships 400 metre hurdles in Manchester this weekend.

Versatile Karla Drew (City of Sheffield) has high hopes in the 100m hurdles, high jump and shot putt too.

In the men’s events, Sam Ellis (Sheffield) defends his 800m title. Last year’s runner up was Ellis’s teammate, Steve Evison

Matt Hudson (Sheffield) defends his 110m hurdles title and is also listed for the 100m, with teammate Ricky Reeves.

In the field events, Luke Cutts (Dearne) defends his pole vault title while Jamie Williamson (Sheffield) is in both the shot and discus.

In the junior age group Sheffield’s Luke South is a medal contender in the 400m while teammate Adam Khan should figure in the long jump, triple jump and 110m hurdles.
