Calli keeps it in the family

Have your say

SHE was ‘born to run’, according to the front page picture of her in The Star when she was just days old.

And now, 19 years later, Sheffield’s Calli Thackery will fulfil that prediction when she wins her first England vest at an international cross country meeting in Elgoibar, near Bilbao, in Spain.

The Hallamshire Harriers’ runner will line-up in a four strong junior women’s team on Sunday alongside Sheffield Hallam student Poppy Blake. Calli will hope to emulate the exploits of her father, Carl Thackery, who competed for Great Britain and posted some of the quickest ever British long distance times.
