Yorkshire 100 metre champion Louise Bloor added the English title to her list at on the first day of the championship meeting at Birmingham. She also took the Northern title held in conjunction.

Because of the congested fixture list due to the Olympics, the Northern and Midlands titles are decided this year on the results of the English event. Bloor, who comes from Rotherham but runs for Trafford, ran impressively in the final to beat Annabelle Lewis (Kingston upon Hull) after Lewis had looked sharper in the qualifying rounds.

Bloor, who is trained by Jessica Ennis’s coach Toni Minichiello, chose not to contest the 200 metres on the second day.

Other medallists included Joe Dunderdale (Lincoln Wellington/City of Sheffield), second in the javelin (69.51m) and Jamie Williamson (City of Sheffield), third in the shot (16.11m).
