Support for anyone with a mental and/or physical health condition in South Yorkshire is now available now

For many people finding a job and staying in work is a challenge, but if you add in the complexities of a physical or mental health condition it can seem like an impossible goal.
But help is at hand across south Yorkshire with a new employment service available for residents.
If you're aged 16 or over in South Yorkshire, and have a mental or physical health condition, there's new support available to help you get into, stay in, and succeed in work.
Working Win and WorkWell are here to offer free, tailored employment support to individuals across the region. These complementary services, provided by the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority in partnership with Shaw Trust and South Yorkshire Housing Association, are designed to help people with health conditions take the next step in their careers.
Whether you're an employee needing extra support or an employer looking to assist staff members, both services offer an easy referral process to access the help you need. Working Win and WorkWell provide early-intervention support that combines health and work services, as well as a single gateway to other community services.
What support is available?
- Personalised 1:1 support for your health and work needs
- Tailored action plans to help you achieve your health and work goals
- Signposting and referrals to local health and wellbeing services
- Job search assistance, including CV writing, job applications, and interview skills
- Employer outreach to find new job opportunities
- Workplace support to ensure you have the right help on the job.
South Yorkshire has been chosen to deliver the WorkWell initiative as part of the Government’s Back to Work Plan, by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and the Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC).
This builds on the success of the Working Win programme, which has already helped over 6,500 people with health conditions find, stay in, and thrive in employment since 2018.

Leigh Arnold, 35, is a Peer Support Worker, who previously received employment support from South Yorkshire Housing Association. He spoke at the launch event about his experiences.
The employment support I received helped me with my CV and helped me with the application, so it was a lot more targeted, it wasn’t just about numbers it was actually helping me with what I wanted to go into.
“It made a massive difference. It got me a job in a sector that I was finding it difficult to get into myself and I had ongoing employment support after I got the job.
“I think if WorkWell is anything like what I experienced then it will definitely help people.
“If it’s targeted and focused on what your interests and skills are then you’re setting people up to win.”
