Medical centre expansion reduces GP wait times and expands care offer for Sheffield residents & students

It’s now easier than ever to access outstanding medical care in Sheffield thanks to expansion of this top-rated medical centre
The opening of a new suite of consultation rooms and a high-spec treatment room, plus extra GPs, Social Prescribers and many other clinical staff, marks an exciting new chapter for Porter Brook Medical Centre and its 30,000 patients.
The six extra rooms brings the total number of clinical and treatment areas to 20, this extra capacity brings a range of benefits to existing patients and the ability to welcome new patients.

It is the designated GP practice for the 15,000 students at Sheffield Hallam University offering multiple additional clinical rooms conveniently located in the medical centre on campus.
The Lord Mayor of Sheffield and community groups from across the city were invited to join the official opening celebration this month (October 16) and were joined by locals keen to find out what this means for them.
Highest quality care
Porter Brook Medical Centre was the first in the city to be rated ‘outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission. It means patients are assured of the highest quality care in all aspects of the organisation and delivery of treatments.
This recent expansion means it can now offer more appointments and faster access to the right medical service, ensuring not only quality of care but continuity of care too.
It means more patient choice, the option to see the same GP and seamless and easy access to other health professions such as a physiotherapists, mental health workers, psychiatrists, pharmacists, nurses, and many other members of the clinical team. Mental health services are a big part of the practice, with mental health professionals embedded within the team.
The extra treatment room means it can carry out more services such as minor operations, contraception fittings, sexual health checks, dermatology and joint injections.
So, whatever health needs, practice is ready to provide you with outstanding health care within your local community.
