The job is on offer at the police dog training centre in Hillsborough, with the successful applicant expected to work 17 hours a week, for a salary of £19,452 – £21,135 pro rata.

Advertising the post, South Yorkshire Police said: “As a kennel assistant, you will be responsible for the daily care, hygiene and welfare of all dogs kennelled at our Dog Training School, working a shift pattern that includes Saturday and Sundays.

“To be considered you must hold a full UK driving licence and ideally have experience of working with dogs.”

The role would also include exercising, grooming and feeding police dogs as well as maintaining clean facilities for all the dogs.
