He said: "Some people are still making the effort to come down here. It is important to get the message out that we are greeting, we are keeping it safe, we get people through very quickly.

"We'd just like to encourage the people to come down and keep their appointments."

He said the road leading to the centre has been gritted and there is ample space at the car park.

"There is no queue at the moment and it is really important for the people to come down here and take their appointment slots, otherwise, we will have to wait for the vaccine."

He said the centre was hoping to jab 400 people today before it closes its doors at 6pm.

Another Sheffield doctor also fears the weather could hinder the vaccination progress at her clinic.

She wrote on Twitter: "Not helpful for our vaccination clinics weather! Really hoping we can get enough people down to use all the vaccines before the end of tomorrow."

Sheffield is forecast to face up to 10 hours of snowfall on Thursday as the temperature in the city plunges to freezing.
