Shooter still on the run after man gunned down near Sheffield United's Bramall Lane stadium

A shooter who gunned down a man in broad daylight close to Sheffield United's Bramall Lane stadium has still not been caught more than a year later.

The victim, believed to be in his 20s, was shot on Bramall Lane outside the Anchor Point flats at around 1pm on Friday, 24 January 2020 and stumbled into the Premier shop on the corner with Cherry Street for help.

Shocked staff said the man had a gun shot wound on the left side of his chest.

His injuries were not life-threatening, police said at the time.

South Yorkshire Police confirmed two men aged 20 and 23 were arrested in connection with the shooting but both have since been released on bail.

Enquiries are ongoing to catch the shooter, police said.

The incident followed a spate of shootings in Sheffield last January.

No fewer than eight shootings took place in the city between January 4 and 12, including that of a 12-year-old boy described as an “innocent bystander”.
