Cardiff City announced that they had parted ways with Neil Harris on Thursday afternoon after recent struggles saw the Bluebirds hit a run of six consecutive defeats.
The Welsh side sit nine points from the relegation zone but were expected to challenge for the top six this season.

Hide AdThe news could push Harris’ name into the ring for the vacant manager’s job but will also spark raise question marks over their transfer dealings in this transfer window, with Wednesday understood to be in the hunt to bring lively winger Josh Murphy to Hillsborough on loan.
Speaking earlier this week, Harris seemed open to the possibility of allowing the 25-year-old out on loan but maintained that while enquiries had been fielded, no acceptable offer had been tabled by any party.
But it looks likely that any negotiations will be slowed and it could well be that any transfer activity is shelved altogether until Cardiff find themselves a new manager.
Murphy, whose brother Jacob enjoyed a successful temporary spell with Wednesday last season, is also believed to be of interest to Wednesday’s fellow relegation rivals Nottingham Forest and Derby County.

Hide AdFormer Millwall manager Harris was in charge of Cardiff for 62 matches, having taken over from Neil Warnock in November 2019. He secured a playoff semi-final berth in his first season.
In a short statement, Cardiff owner Vincent Tan explained that recent results were behind the decision and described the club’s progress this season as ‘very poor’.
