Morris, 29, of Sitwell Street, Eckington, Sheffield, admitted drug driving when he appeared before the court.

Speaking in his own defence, he told magistrates: “I had taken the cocaine the night before and I thought I was okay to drive. I was in the Matlock area to pick up some friends who needed a lift because they couldn’t get a taxi.”

Magistrates banned Morris from driving for 12 months, fined him £380 and ordered him to pay £85 costs and a £38 victim surcharge.
