The land, adjacent to 26 Daresbury Drive, Arbourthorne, is among nearly 40 lots going under the hammer at a property auction this month.

Sheffield Council had granted planning permission to erect a three-bedroom, detached home on the site, although this has now lapsed, as work did not begin within three years of getting the go-ahead.

The site is described by auction house Taylor James Auctions as “an irregular-shaped site of 2,690 sq feet” and carries a guide price of £1,000-plus.

Also going under the hammer at the auction on Thursday, February 25, is a two-bedroom property in Rotherham.

The mid-terrace house, at 33 Avondale Road, Bradgate, is described as “requiring modernisation throughout”.

Features include two reception rooms and a kitchen on the ground floor and two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs, as well as a rear yard.

It has a guide price of just £10,000-plus – according to the latest UK house price index, the average property price in Rotherham in December 2020 was £154,860, while the England average was £269,150.

Russell Taylor, director and auctioneer with Taylor James Auctions, said: “With auctions now solely taking place online, it is a lot easier for buyers to get involved and those who previously found the idea of bidding at auction quite daunting are now finding they can do it from the comfort of their home or office.”
